Step 1 Current licence from home translated into Chinese through a legal office. (300 Yuan)
Step 2 Obtain application form from Traffic Police Department.
Step 3 Go to Gary's office and get a letter of residence stating:
Name
Passport Number
Nationality
Full Address
Date you started working for NIT
Step 4 Have letter stamped from Gary's office, Campus Police (West Gate) and Local Police Station. (Second floor turn left go to door at the end of the passage)
Step 5 Go to hospital and get a health certificate. (15 Yuan)
Step 6 Fill in the application form in Chinese.... You need a Chinese Name.
Have photos taken in the down stairs parking area at the Traffic Police Department (15 Yuan) attach 1 photo to application. (Keep the rest with papers, they will need them later)
Step 7 Take all Paperwork, Passport, Experts Book and Current Licence to Traffic Police Station and register for licence.
Step 8 Once you have been registered on the computer you can precede.
Step 9 Take all Paperwork, Passport, Experts Book and Current Licence to Practical Driver Testing Centre and book a date to sit the computer exam.
Step 10 Take the deposit slip they give you to the bank and pay the fee for the exam. (50 Yuan) Keep the receipt.
Step 11 Take the exam on the day specified, you need to answer 90/100 questions correctly to pass. They have an English version (translation is not perfect)
Step 12 If you pass the Computer exam, you will need to return to Traffic Police Station approximately 1 week later to pick up your licence from the building next to main building. (Ground floor offices.)
Step 13 Go to registration office pay 10 Yuan fee (middle window) then proceed to the counter in far right corner to laminate your licence and get the cover.
ALL DONE..... YOU NOW HAVE YOUR CHINESE LICENCE !!!
